John Carter, Warlord of Mars Reimagined
Another commission involving my interpretation of a published cover – John Carter, Warlord of Mars, Issue 1. When an avid collector of Edgar Rice Burroughs Mars artwork approached me about this project, I was thrilled to try my hand at drawing follow-up to my recent attempt at creating my interpretation of ERB’s Barsoom.

Ben Grimm’s Poker Game – “A Spidey in Need”
More interesting commissions continue. This time, I was commissioned by Fred Chamberlain to create my version of Ben Grimm’s (The Thing of Fantastic Four) Poker Game. I believe his description sums up the process pretty well:
I hadn’t been aware of Jun Bob Kim until seeing an amazing Invaders One Minute Later commission here at CAF. I immediately contacted him and from the first moment of our interaction until completion of the final artwork, he was both enthusiastic, friendly and incredibly creative. My only request was that he include Ben, Spidey and Logan, asking him to add other characters of his chosing. Jun came back with the idea of “A tongue-in-cheek game of poker… for the fate of the world”. As with all of the artists, his putting his own artistic spin on this added immensely to the original idea. The fun continued as he sent me a pencilled rough, that clearly depicted fun hijinx including the playing cards reflected in Silver Surfer’s forehead, Logan handing off a card to Spidey under the table, Kang going all in Doom tantrumming and more….. as well as a nod to Collidge’s “A Friend in Need” classic piece. He offered to add another character into the scene and we came up with a disapproving Cap looking on.
